Clinical Tools

COPD Assessment Test

The COPD Assessment Test (CAT) is a questionnaire for patients with COPD. It is designed to measure the impact of COPD on a person's life and how this changes over time. The CAT is very simple to administer; it results in scores between 0 and 40.

Clinical COPD Questionnaire

The Clinical COPD Questionnaire (CCQ) has been described as the most highly rated COPD wellness tool for primary care. The 10 items can be divided into 3 domains: symptoms, functional state, and mental status. It is available in 24-hour and 1-week versions and has been translated into more than 60 languages.

Patient Resources

American College of CHEST Physicians (CHEST Foundation)

The mission of the CHEST Foundation is to develop resources to champion the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of chest diseases through education, communication, and research.

American Lung Association

The American Lung Association works to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through education, advocacy, and research.

The COPD Foundation

The COPD Foundation was established to undertake initiatives that result in expanded services for COPD and that improve the lives of individuals affected by COPD. The COPD Foundation’s activities focus on achieving these results through research, education, and advocacy programs that will lead to prevention and, someday, a cure for this disease.

The Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD)

GOLD partners with health care professionals and public health officials to raise awareness of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and to improve prevention and treatment of this lung disease for patients around the world.
