Program Description
Please join us for dinner and a dynamic Science in the Spotlight symposium featuring expert panelists Drs. Joseph Han, Stella Lee, and Rohit Katial as they examine evolving management approaches for chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP), with a focus on biologics targeting epithelial-derived cytokines in the airways, including thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP), interleukin-25 (IL-25), and interleukin-33 (IL-33). This program brings together perspectives from allergy, immunology, and otorhinolaryngology to explore the how these epithelial alarmins drive the inflammation, airway dysfunction, and disease persistence seen in patients with CRSwNP.
Through a focused whiteboard animation, case-based checkpoints, and interactive faculty dialogue, the engaging, multidisciplinary faculty panel will guide participants through both an examination of epithelial cytokine signaling in CRSwNP and practical therapeutic decision-making involving new and emerging biologic therapies that target alarmin cytokines. In addition, attendees will also learn about the latest clinical evidence for newer and emerging biologic therapies targeting epithelial alarmin-driven inflammation and discuss how to incorporate these novel therapies into mechanism-based treatment strategies, with an emphasis on optimizing disease control, escalating treatment as needed, reducing the need for oral corticosteroids and endoscopic sinus surgery, reducing symptom burden, and improving the quality of life experienced by patients living with CRSwNP.
Target Audience
This educational activity has been designed to educate ear, nose, and throat specialists as well as clinical immunologists/allergists and pulmonologists who manage patients with CRSwNP.
Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be better prepared to:
- Describe the roles of epithelial cytokine signaling in the pathogenesis of CRSwNP, including implications for patient evaluations and treatment
- Assess patients with CRSwNP for symptom burden, psychosocial effects, comorbidities, and treatment responses
- Discuss the clinical profiles and evidence for biologic therapies that target epithelial cytokines in the treatment of CRSwNP
- Escalate treatment appropriately for CRSwNP to address underlying pathophysiologic processes, improve disease control, and reduce the need for oral corticosteroids or endoscopic sinus surgery
