Maximizing Your Role to Impact Patient Outcomes
Part 1: THE PHARMACIST’S ROLE IN RAPID ART: Supporting Patients With Newly Diagnosed HIV
This activity will present rapid antiretroviral therapy (ART) fundamentals and clinical benefits as well as strategies to link newly diagnosed HIV-positive patients to care quickly. Emphasis will be placed on the important role that pharmacists play as the trusted link between newly diagnosed patients and local treatment providers.
Part 2: THE PHARMACIST’S ROLE IN OPTIMIZING HIV TREATMENT: Supporting the Patients’ Adherence and Retention in Care
This activity will provide pharmacists with the most recent clinical and pharmacologic information surrounding ART as well as pharmacist involvement in HIV management based on American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) guidelines. This program will address the pharmacist’s role in counseling patients about switching options and the importance of reviewing polypharmacy for patients with comorbid conditions.
