Addressing Weight Gain in People With HIV in the GLP-1 RA Era

Target Audience

The educational design of this activity addresses the needs of HIV specialists (MDs, NPs, PAs, and pharmacists) involved in the treatment of patients with HIV.

Program Overview

Weight gain is becoming increasingly common among people with HIV and its cause is not fully understood. While it may be due to antiretroviral therapy (ART) regimens, it may also simply be a factor of aging patients and a growing problem in the general population. In this Phone-a-Friend episode, Drs. Onyema Ogbuagu and David Wohl discuss the effect of ART on weight and the use of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1)–targeting therapies to manage obesity.
