Hot Topics in NSCLC

Target Audience 

This activity is intended to provide CME/CE to health care clinicians involved in the treatment of advanced/metastatic non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), including medical oncologists, thoracic oncologists, hematology/oncology fellows, advanced practice providers (NPs, PAs), oncology nurses, and oncology pharmacists. 

Learning Objectives 

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to: 

• Assess emerging approaches for TROP2 quantification with the potential to predict therapeutic efficacy 
• Evaluate published clinical efficacy data on TROP2-targeted ADC therapy as monotherapy and in combination approaches with chemotherapy and/or immunotherapy 
• Examine evidence-based strategies for patient selection and treatment sequencing of ADCs with a focus on biomarker status, prior therapies, and future therapeutic implications 
• Describe practical collaborative strategies to monitor for and manage adverse events associated with ADCs 

Program Overview 

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the most common type of lung cancer, comprising 80-85% of total cases. Often diagnosed at later stages, NSCLC carries a mere 12% 5-year survival rate among patients with distant metastatic disease. Despite low survival rates, recent advances in metastatic NSCLC management ­̶—including newer pharmacologic therapies that target emerging biomarkers like TROP2—are reshaping clinical practice and patient outcomes. Under the guidance of an expert medical oncologist, learners who participate in this NSCLC Hot Topics activity will be educated on topics including the detection and quantification of TROP2 expression in NSCLC, recently-released clinical trial data for TROP2-targetted antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), and the management of adverse events associated with ADCs, in an effort to improve clinical care when managing patients with metastatic NSCLC.
